Located in the heart of Osogovo mountains, Polaki abounds with oak, beech, and somwhere pine trees, too. The relief exeptional uneven with many hills, divided by several mountain rivers: Lopenska, Lisa, Kasirska and Ramnoniviska river. Theese trubutaries from the Velika river, wich fills the artificial lake "Gradce", and afterwards coniniues as Kocanska river..
Enclosed and protected with the high mountains crests, Polaki can eulogize with a pleasant mountain climate all the year long: with brisk summers and soft winters. Middle years temperature are 13°C.
The snow is a regular phenomenon in winter and happends to last until march and april. When the Kocani hollow is covered with fog, here shines the sun beside the snow and it is a real paradise for relaxing, vacation. This convinient microclimate motivates a longer period of time the reconsideration for the development of winter sports.
The good climate make a colorful and fruitful landscape. Beautiful valleys andgreen grass spread alogside the river banks. Farms used to be main interest. Even today, in smaller numberthought, one can spot shepherds with theirflocks. Talking about Polaki, we have got to emphasire that we are talking about clean and green environment as well as healthy living conditions. The mountain rivers are clean and there lives many different types of fish and water animals. This is an ideal place to establsh fish shops. Until 1960, there were 18 watermills and many valavnici. They don't exist any more. Demolished ruins stand as symbol of a certain past time and voacation.
The life here once was great as the people lived out of the nature. The nature gave then, and still gives a lot. Potatoes and other vegetables grow ina a big quality, as well as fruit susk as: apples, plums, nuts ets. The surrounding mountains are rich with mushrooms, herbs, herb teas, berries and many other. The big attention has been paying bee's breeding, out ofwich a highly qualitive Osogovo honey is produced lately.
About ground there have brown sylvan ground, but somewhere have humus, and somewhere have clayey placer.
